     Hon`ble Thiru Justice S.Nagamuthu, was born on 31.05.1955, at Madigai Village in Thanjavur Taluk. He studied at Government Secondary School at Vandaiyar Iruppu and completed PUC at Poondi College and was later graduated from Raja Sarfoji Government College at Thanjavur and secured First Class and thereafter obtained Law Degree in the year 1980 from Madras Law College. He enrolled as an Advocate on 07.01.1981. He started practice in Thanjavur District Court as Junior to Mr.N.Karuppasamy, a leading Criminal Lawyer and was also attached to the office of the Senior Counsel Thiru.V.Viswanathan, Pattukottai, a leading Criminal Lawyer. During independent practice, had acquaintance with the well known Lawyer Thiru. G.M.Virudhachalam Reddiar of Thiruchirappali Bar. From 1990 he started conducting cases in Madras High Court. After commencement of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court at Madurai in the year 2004, he shifted his practice permanently to Madurai Bench and conducted several sensational cases at Madurai Bench in almost all branches of law. He has written several articles on important topics which have been published in Law Journals. He was elevated as Additional Judge of Madras High Court on 22.03.2007 and made Permanent Judge on 09.11.2009




Hon'ble Thiru. Justice RAJIV SHAKDHER

Rajiv Shakdher, B.Com.(Hons.), C.A., LL.B.- Born on 19th October, 1962. Studied in St.Columba's School, Delhi. Graduated in B.Com. (Hons.) from Delhi University in 1984. Obtained LL.B. degree from Law Faculty, University of Delhi in 1987. Enrolled as an Advocate on 19th November, 1987. Completed Chartered Accountancy from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 1987. Admitted as an Associate Member with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India on 29th January, 1988. Pursued Advanced Course of Law at Institute of Advanced Legal Studies from University of London in 1994. Was designated as Senior Advocate on 8th December, 2005. Practiced in the Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi and other High Courts of India, Tax Tribunals, DRT, BIFR, AAIFR, MRTP and Company Law Board. Has vast experience in civil litigation, constitutional law, with special emphasis on commercial litigation, corporate and taxation laws. Was appointed as a counsel for the Union of India on 13th March, 1995 by the Government of India with respect to its cases in the High Court of Delhi. Appointed on the Senior Panel of the Union of India in the Delhi High Court on 20th July, 2004 till 20th July, 2007. Appointed in 2005 to the Union of India Panel in the Supreme Court of India. Appointed as a counsel by the office of Comptroller and Auditor General to defend IA &AD matters before CAT from 1st August, 2002 to 31st July, 2003. Appointed as a Senior Standing Counsel by office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, to defend IA & AD cases before Delhi High Court with effect from 1st August, 2006. Appointed as Additional Judge of Delhi High Court on 11.04.2008 and became permanent Judge on 17.10.2011.  Transferred and assumed charge on 11.04.2016, as a Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Madras.

Hon'ble Thiru. Justice B.RAJENDRAN

Hon'ble Mr.Justice BALASUNDARAM RAJENDRAN was born on 01.04.1955. His Lordship did his schooling at St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Trichy. His Lordship had completed his degree in B.Com., in Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy, a rank holder in the college. Even during the college days, His Lordship was the Secretary of the Commerce Association. His Lordship joined the Bachelor of Law Course in Madras Law College, in 1975 and completed it in 1978. His Lordship also holds a Diploma in Criminology & Forensic Science (D.C.F. Sc) from University of Madras. 

Justice Rajendran was called to the bar on 01.11.1978. He commenced active practice on the civil and criminal sides in the District Courts at Trichirapalli along with His Lordship’s Father and Guru Mr. G. Balasundaram, who was the doyen of the Bar and former President of the Trichy Bar Association. During his years as a practitioner, Justice Rajendran was appointed an Additional Public Prosecutor for the Tiruchirapalli District. His Lordship was initially appointed as Additional Public Prosecutor in the then combined Trichy District, which included the present Trichy, Karur and Perambalur Districts. Later on, appointed as Public Prosecutor in Trichy and conducted more than 300 sessions trial as Public Prosecutor. His Lordship had appeared in very many important cases in Trichy. Within five years of his practice, in 1983, he was made a member of the Indian council for arbitration. Moving on to constitutional courts, he shifted his focus to the High Court of Judicature at Madras in 1994. His expertise ranged from the traditional Civil and criminal litigation to the more intense and specialized fields of Constitutional, Taxation, Labor, Company & Service laws. He was later appointed Additional Government Pleader (Writs) for the Principal Seat of the High Court at Madras. His Lordship was able to assist Shri. G. Masilamani, then Additional Solicitor General of India and Advocate General of Tamil Nadu, former President of the Madras Bar Association, in very many important cases. 

His Lordship was also appointed as Legal Adviser to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Bharathidasan University, then Regional Engineering College now NIIT, St. Joseph's College, Holy Cross College, Jamal Mohammed College and all other educational institutions in and around Trichy. His Lordship was also appointed as Panel Advocate for all the Nationalised Banks including State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Dhanalakshmi Bank and Lakshmi Vilas Bank. Also panel Advocate for Oriental Insurance Company. His Lordship was then appointed as a Legal Adviser to the High Court, Chennai and represented the Registrar General in very many important cases. 

His Lordship was appointed as Additional Judge of the Madras High Court on 30.03.2009 and made a Permanent Judge of the High Court on 29.03.2011. He has demonstrated himself as an innovative thinker using constitutional tools to achieve the delicate balance between the right of an individual and the public interest of the state. During the course of his Judgeship, His Lordship, taking serious interest in academics, while in active litigative and advisory practice, was appointed as the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Branch of the Indian Law Institute between 2002 - 2009 and currently its Executive Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Branch. From 2013, he has been on the Executive Council of the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and has conducted very many workshops and seminars including seminar on Intellectual Properties Right at Madras. 

Looking at alternate method of dispute resolution as an essential tool in litigation factory, he has been responsible for the Tamil Nadu Mediation and Conciliation Centre. Currently, he is a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Madras High Court, which is looking at swift, yet, inexpensive means of dispute resolution. 

Justice Rajendran has rendered several landmark decisions including the transnational taxation judgement in Nokia Vs. State of Tamil Nadu. During his tenure as a Judge of the High Court. For instance, P. Subramani vs. A. Periyasamy (2013), he emphatically restated the position of law that a dishonest litigant cannot hoodwink the judicial process to make unlawful gains. Applying the principles of restitution he held that a person seeking to deceive a Court of law must pay costs for his impudence. 

Later in Shaji’s case, he balanced the constitutional guarantee of personal liberty of an individual with the duty of the State to bring an offender to the book, holding that a proclaimed offender who was accused of running over and killing innocent people with his sports car cannot be granted anticipated bail. Recently, His Lordship was requested to deliver a lecture in the Commonwealth Law Conference, Glasocw at Scotland between 12th to 16th April 2015 and he has delivered a lecture on the topic “Right to fair trial – Duty of the State to fund competent representation for all defendants” which was widely published in The Law Weekly journal. Thereafter, His Lordship became a member of the Commonwealth Magistrates’ and Judges’ Association (CMJA) and he attended a conference conducted by the CMJA at Wellington, Newzealand between 13th to 18th September 2015 where he was unanimously elected as Regional Vice-President of CMJA. 

His Lordship was an active member of the Rotary Club of Trichy. During His Lordship’s tenure as Secretary, started Book Fair in Trichy which project is continuing till date and also was instrumental, as President, in conducting many laudable service oriented projects at Trichy. 

His Lordship has been a Rotarian continuously from 1978 to 2002 at Trichy main and past President and past GGR-GZR and also Secretary of Conference on three occasions. His Lordship was adjudged as the best President and Secretary during the year 1987 and 1983 respectively and cent percent tor continuously for a period of 16 years. 

His Lordship has toured most of the countries including, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Korea and other eastern countries. 

His Lordship is happily married to Mrs. Madhubala Rajendran and blessed with one son and a daughter and two grand children
Hon'ble Thiru. Justice T.S.SIVAGNANAM

Born on 16.9.1963 to Dr.T.S.Subbiah and Smt.Nalini Subbiah. Completed B.Sc. Degree at Loyola College, Chennai and B.L. Degree from Madras Law College. Enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu on 10.9.1986. After enrollment joined the Chamber of Shri.R.Gandhi, Senior Advocate and a well known leader of the Bar. Appointed as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel during 2000. Empaneled as Counsel for Southern Railway during 2003. Appointed as Senior Panel Counsel for Central Government during 2004. Appointed as Panel Counsel for All India Council for Technical Education for appearance in High Court of Judicature at Madras and High Court of Andhra Pradesh during 2005. Nominated by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of High Court of Judicature at Madras as Panel Lawyer for appearing on behalf of the Registrar General/Officers/Judicial Officers during 2007. Appointed as Senior Panel Counsel for Customs & Central Excise Department during 2008. Appointed as Special Counsel to appear for the Department of the Revenue before the CEGAT/CESTAT Chennai. Appointed as Special Counsel to appear for the Department of the Revenue before the Settlement Commission for Customs Cases, Chennai. Appointed as Additional Judge, High Court of Madras on 31.03.2009 and as Permanent Judge on 29.03.2011.

Hon'ble Thiru. Justice P.N.PRAKASH

Born on 12.01.1961 in Chennai.  Did schooling in Hindu Higher Secondary School, Triplicane and graduated in Law from the Madras Law College.  Enrolled on 18.01.1984 with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and worked in the offices of Mr. K.M.Srirangan and Mr. P. Rajamanickam, the then Public Prosecutor.  Appointed as Additional Special Public Prosecutor for NDPS Act cases in 1993 for Trial Courts in Chennai and as Special Public Prosecutor for NDPS Act cases in the Madras High Court in 2001.  Also appointed as Special Public Prosecutor for CBI, DRI, Customs and Excise.  Earned rich experience both on the trial and appellate sides.  Established a Law Firm in the name of Norton & Grant.  Was a Member of the Editorial Board of Madras Law Journal (Criminal) and regular contributor of articles to Current Tamil Nadu Cases.  Passionate in teaching by conducting various programmes.  After ceasing to represent as Special Public Prosecutor for NDPS cases, in keeping with the dignity of the profession, declined to appear for any accused in NDPS cases. Appointed as Additional Judge, High Court of Madras on 11.10.2013.



Hon'ble Dr. Justice G.JAYACHANDRAN

Dr.G.JAYACHANDRAN born on 01.04.1965 at Vellore to Mr.R.Gopalan and Mrs.G.Rukmani. He hails from agricultural family.

He had his primary education at St.Mary's Convent, Vellore and higher secondary education at Voorhees Higher Secondary School, Vellore.

He joined the Law College at Chennai in the year 1983. He belongs to the first batch of five years integrated law course.

He joined M.L., in the Department of Legal studies at Madras University and shared the first rank in M.L (International Law & Constitutional Law) along with Mr.G.Gurusamy, I.R.S., for the year 1990.

In the year 2001, he was conferred with Doctorate in Law by the University of Madras for his thesis on `Trafficking and control of Narcotic Drugs in India`.

He enrolled as an Advocate on 28.10.1988 at Tamil Nadu Bar Council and joined the office of Late Mr.N.Meenakshisundaram (Father of Hon'ble Mr.Justice M.Sathyanarayanan). Later, worked under Mr.K.R.A.Muthukrishnan, Dr.T.S.Ramaswamy and Late.Mr.P.Rajamanickam. He, along with Mr.P.N.Prakash (later Hon'ble Mr.Justice P.N.Prakash) and Mr.S.Rajendirakumar, established the Law Firm “Norton and Grant”. He has handled cases both before the Trial Courts and Appellate Courts.

In the year 1998, he was appointed as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel to represent Central Government in Madras High Court. Under the guidance of the then Additional Solicitor General Mr.V.T.Gopalan, he appeared on behalf of several Central Government Departments and institutions including Customs, CISF and BSNL.

Under the tutelage of Late P.Rajamanickam, the legendary prosecutor, handled cases of NCB and CBI in the respective Special Courts since 1996. Also served as Special Public Prosecutor of CBI in trial Courts at Chennai.

Assumed charge as District Judge at Trichy on 06.06.2005.
